We are Sarah Rohrer and Susan Pressler.

We launched Sarah Rohrer Designs to create luxury, hand-made products for you to use and treasure for years to come. We are committed to making each item with loving care and attention to detail especially for you.

We specialize in creating hand-made knitted blankets and throws using superior, hand-dyed merino wool yarn purchased from around the world. Our spinner, Greta, used to work in Milan as a Fashion Designer and a Milliner. She now lives in a small house in the Alps and spins by hand in a yarn lab “powered by the Sun”.

Our plan is to keep Sarah Rohrer Designs evolving with new products created just for you.

“We will strive to make our designs ever-better – in the yarns we use, the products we make, and the way we create our products.”

Sarah Rohrer

Sarah Rohrer grew up in Fishers, Indiana and currently lives in the area with her husband Brian and their rescue Pug, Emmett. Sarah graduated from Indiana University with a B.A. in English focusing on literature and writing. She works as a Technical Writer. She has worked in fashion retail and customer service for 15 years. Once a former ballerina herself, Sarah has taught ballet, jazz, and tap to all ages, coached gymnastics and cheerleading, and taught preschool. Sarah’s passions (besides knitting!) include animals, working with children, the arts (ballet in particular), writing, reading, cooking, working out (especially Yoga), and fashion.Sarah’s love of handmade knitted blankets comes from her grandmother Leonie. Leonie created beautiful handmade afghans and clothing for family members for over 70 years. It was Leonie who taught Sarah to knit at a young age. In 2017, Sarah Rohrer Designs was launched to carry on Leonie’s tradition of lovingly making unique knitted and crocheted blankets.

Sarah’s deep love of animals led her to Pug rescue work. She first fostered a pug named Alice, which led her to Kentuckiana Pug Rescue where she met and adopted Emmett. Emmett is a cute black pug who is now 12 years old but still acts like a puppy!

Sarah enjoys anything that sparks her creativity as well as activities that calm the mind, like knitting. Creating handmade knitted blankets and clothing makes for a more beautiful world. She also likes to change it up and add trends with a touch of glamour and glitz.

The inspiration for Sarah Rohrer Designs comes from their mother-daughter trips. Sarah and Susan have traveled to Australia several times and some of their favorite places there are the Sydney Opera House, Darling Harbour, the Australia Zoo, and Great Ocean Road. Recently, they traveled to Montauk, New York and were awed by the beauty of the famous Montauk Lighthouse and its picturesque beaches, as well as the village’s charming shops and restaurants.

Susan Pressler

Susan Pressler lives in Indiana with her husband, Milton. Susan graduated from Indiana State University with a BSN in nursing. She worked as a registered nurse in critical care units and continued her education, obtaining a master’s of science and PhD in nursing from Indiana University. As a professor, Susan has taught undergraduate and graduate nursing at three universities. As a nurse researcher, she has worked to find ways to improve the quality of life of people with heart disease. Nursing has been Susan’s professional passion for years.

Susan’s mother, Leonie, is one of the inspirations for Sarah Rohrer Designs. Growing up in Indiana, Susan watched Leonie knit, crochet, and sew clothing and blankets with loving care to give to family members. They still have the treasured sweaters and blankets made by Leonie. Leonie taught Susan to knit and crochet at a young age. After spending so many years as a nurse and professor, she is excited to start a company that can provide unique knitted and crocheted products that will be treasured for years to come.

Susan’s greatest joy is spending time with family. She and her husband Milton enjoy traveling and spending time in New York City visiting museums, parks, and shows. Susan and Sarah share a love of creating beautiful hand-made items and are working to build Sarah Rohrer Designs to bring you even more products made with love.
